Welcome to Landscape Concepts

After nearly twenty years of Designing and Landscaping outdoor spaces for private and commercial clients, we have teamed up with Bella Marketing Solutions to refresh our online presence, re-launch our tired website and launch our social media profiles. We have existed online with a skeleton site, but now it’s time to be more visual for both existing and new customers alike.

In April we will enter our 20th year of trading as Landscape Concepts. Since our establishment in 2001 by our Managing  Director Philip Garlick, the company has seen significant changes. Growth- lead us to becoming a limited company. Stricter health and safety regulations- saw us gain accreditations with Alcumus-Safecontractor and Constructionline. Whilst changes in trends, the increase in awareness of mental health and the benefits of gardening or being in green spaces, has kept us on our toes as designers, to encourage the love of gardens we share at Landscape Concepts.

For the past 20 years, Landscape Concepts has been designing, constructing, and maintaining gardens, show gardens, and commercial spaces all over the country. We are based in Northamptonshire but are happy to travel in order to provide clients with a bespoke outside space to enjoy.

In a year where the nation has been stuck at home, never before have our gardens and outdoor spaces been so valued. Spending time in our gardens not only brings us closer to nature, but enlivens all our senses which has a calming, re-balancing effect that improves our well-being and mindfulness. From my little plot in Northamptonshire my garden is bringing me a sense of calm and normality away from the unsettling COVID environment.

So, at Landscape Concepts we are still implementing designs, carrying out garden, and grounds maintenance to meet our client’s needs, in a social distanced risk free manner – tailored to each clients and government requirements.

The January Garden:

January is a time for maintenance and planning, and not to mention keeping an eye on the weather.  Even in winter, there is plenty of interest in our gardens.  The month ahead is the perfect time to give your garden a yearly health check with the not so glamourous jobs. Checking outdoor furniture, fences and trellis for repairs, general tidying, and removing fallen leaves will immediately freshen up your outdoor space.

Winter allows evergreens to come into their own. Clipped Yew and Box stand sentinel above the barren earth. Whilst the fascinating colours of Cornus bark, the likes of C. sericea ‘Flaviramea’ and C. alba ‘Sibirica’, create a vivid contrast to the bleak surroundings. Get ready for the early bulbs to make an appearance,  elegant Snowdrops and the golden Aconite will soon carpet the ground in great swathes.

Signs of Life: Evergreens like these conifers provide structure through the winter months. (Left) Whilst Pieris (Centre) and Camellia Jap. (Right) are ready to burst into flower.

This year will see the launch of our online presence, keep checking our blog and social media posts for top tips on what to do in the garden , feature plant of the month, and  with many new projects in the pipeline keep up to date with case studies of our work.

2021 hopefully sees the return of the RHS Shows so tune in to our Instagram feed for a sneak peak behind the scenes and maybe some celebrity spotting at RHS Chelsea.

So give us a follow, like or share, and get outdoors and let us create your own green space to enjoy.

Plant of the Month:

This winter stalwart is a welcome pop of colour in any border. Lasting well into the spring Hellebores come in a variety of colours from lime greens, purest whites, to deep purples/reds.
